U.S. stocks were lower Tuesday, failing to build on an upside reversal during the previous session that marked the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s biggest intraday comeback in two months. The Dow DJIA, -0.80% fel 224 points, or 0.7%, while the S&P 500 lost 0.7% and the Nasdaq Composite slumped 1.1%, with earnings from megacap tech giants Microsoft Corp. MSFT, -1.45% and Google parent Alphabet Inc. GOOG, -2.07% due after the closing bell.
